The Fashion!Dallas/ Kim Dawson Model Search has launched the careers of some very successful models: Erin Wasson (the face of Maybelline), Chaise Mooty (an Abercrombie & Fitch model) and Ali Michael (who has walked international runways and appeared in magazines such as Italian Elle and Teen Vogue). Could you be the modeling world's next big sensation?
If you think you've got just the right look, or know someone who does, sign up and enter to win the 2007 search. This year marks the contest's 10th anniversary, and it promises to be bigger than ever.
In addition to a modeling contract with the Kim Dawson Agency, the photogenic winner will receive stellar prizes and star on the catwalk at a special Model Search runway show at NorthPark Center's Fashion at the Park in November. F!D/KD judges pick the winner, but readers of The Dallas Morning News determine the two popular choices – one male and one female – by mailing in their votes, casting them online or text-messaging.
The contest rules and the application are available online at dallasnews.com/modelsearch, or you can enter in person at our annual search party from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 18 at NorthPark, Central Expressway at Northwest Highway in Dallas.
Even if your dream isn't to jet off to New York or Paris, come join all the fun. The day will be packed with entertainment, free goodies and, of course, fashion.
The annual F!D/KimDawson Model Search has served as a launching pad for several exciting careers. Here's an update on some past finalists and winners.
Marisol Alfaro
2004 Winner

There's no doubt in Marisol Alfaro's mind what her favorite part of modeling is - the catwalk. "I love getting on the runway and seeing all the people in the audience," she says. The 16-year-old junior at Birdville High School in Hurst has strutted in local runway shows at Neiman Marcus for the Crystal Charity luncheon and Teen Vogue and regularly does shoots for J.C. Penney and F!D luxe. Her next move? "I want to finish school and go beyond Texas. I really want to travel."
Meredith Fowler
2002 Winner
When this 20-year-old, soft-spoken beauty from Mineral Wells won the search four years ago, she forged ahead with shoots for J.C. Penney and F!D. But as her star quotient rose, she took an unconventional route for a new model. After a few semesters at Lubbock Christian University, she's now back on the scene, doing test shoots and going on castings. "My eyes have really opened, I've matured a lot, and I've learned to come out of my shell," she says. With piercing baby blues and perfect porcelain skin, we're predicting it won't take her long to get right back on track.
Ali Michael
2005 Winner
It has been a whirlwind year for this baby-faced stunner. The 16-year-old from Colleyville never had a doubt that she wanted to model. After winning the search, the teen found herself working steadily for Foley's and Neiman Marcus, and she has been on the cover of F!D luxe a record five times. A recent trip to New York proved successful: She signed with DNA Models (home to supers such as Linda Evangelista, Stella Tenant and her idol, Natalia Vodianova) and has already done shoots for Italian Elle and Teen Vogue. Next up? "I would absolutely love to shoot Italian Vogue with Steven Meisel," she says.
Chaise Mooty
2004 Winner
This 18-year-old has made the transition from Texarkana football star to New York model with ease. After winning the search, he found himself being shipped to the Dominican Republic to shoot with Bruce Weber for Abercrombie & Fitch. Spreads in L'uomo Vogue and Arena Homme Plus soon followed. After graduating from Texas High School in Texarkana in December, Chaise made the jump to the Big Apple, where he hit the ground running. "I was really big into football and had planned to play in college," he says. "But I've always wanted to be an actor, and modeling gives me options to pursue that." Talk about a model with a mission.
Blake Towsley
2003 Finalist
This SMU grad wears many hats. The hunky 25-year-old, originally scouted at a Pat Green concert, kick-started his career modeling and taking acting classes, while working days as a commercial real estate broker. He became a household name last summer when he was cast in Survivor: Guatemala. (Unfortunately, he was voted off.) After filming the finale in December, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his modeling and acting careers. An audition for Passions proved successful (he got the role, but decided to pass) and he recently signed with LA Models. You might catch him on TV again soon - he's auditioning for a new show on HGTV that combines "real estate and modeling."
Mimi Roche
2002 Finalist
The last time we saw 22-year-old Mimi Roche, she had taken time out of her busy schedule to fly in from New York to shoot a cover for F!D luxe last year. Her only request? That we get her some home cookin' for lunch (sweet tea and pork chops, to be exact). This unfailingly polite Southern belle has walked countless runways for top European houses such as Stella McCartney, Gucci, YSL and Christian Dior. Her face has also been splashed in ads for D&G, Saks Fifth Avenue and Banana Republic.
Her latest project? Shooting an Italian Vogue spread for Steven Meisel.
Erin Wasson
1997 Winner
The first Model Search winner was a tiny, 15-year-old basketball player in Irving when she caught the attention of our judges. Fast-forward nine years, and you'll find her accomplishments staggering. Start with numerous designer campaigns (Armani, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Donna Karan), factor in the runway mileage (Michael Kors, Chanel and Versace, to barely scratch the surface), and dash onto magazine covers (French Vogue, Allure, Elle and Esquire). Top it all off with a multimillion-dollar cosmetics campaign for Maybelline, and you've got yourself a supermodel. Not too shabby for a 24-year-old. Want more scoop on the search?
