Hello everyone!
Well, it has been some time since my last post. I'm still back in the south which elates my parents who went from seeing me every other year to every few weeks which is just fine.
Unfortunately, work has still been an issue. I had a hot lead back in December through an old friend from where I used to work with to fizzle down to nothing due to corporate downsizing or realization they couldn't afford as many as they wanted to hire. In any event, I am still in the running if they decide to fill a second position or if anyone falters.
While many of you would find this scary, I am sure I can prove myself at this company as worthy to avoid any quick layoff if more cuts are deemed necessary since I have an inside backer. I had also applied at Apple, which had contacted me back in Tulsa and would have been a go, but unfortunately in North Carolina they are a bit weird. To put it best, think needing Secret Service clearance with the runaround they gave me with over 20 years using the platform and not being deserving to work retail. Chris "the Manager" as they put him, never calls you back even after you interview and he tells you what to apply for and that he will "line it up." Trust me, Apple is a good company but I have no idea how they decide their hires as the mostly look like freaks I don't want touching my hardware.
The apartment complex I live in has proved to be very unsafe. Some of you may have received the video I sent where I was approached by a local news station back in early January when checking my mail as we had a murder right outside the entrance driveway to the apartment complex, less than 50 feet from my unit. Needless to say I keep my doors locked at all times and will be moving at the lease end since East Charlotte has turned into a crime riddled area of stabbing, gas stations being robbed, as well as local fast food restaurants held up within 1/4 of a mile from here.
I hate to say it as I found this area safe less than 10 years ago, but it has now turned into an area of continued violence with excessive police protection which only exacerbates the situation (teen was shot in his back in November after police saw him running "with a gun" which he didn't even have). To put it bluntly, when I was a teen, our church used to take us up the the mall right down the road to ice skate. The mall has since faltered closing most of its anchor stores such as Dillard's and Belk. The ice rink was covered over in sand back in December, never to be skated again.
I know most of you are in Texas and I applaud that fact. I'm just giving an update on how my move back "to the south" has went.
Take care,
Chris
Apparently I did today! Good to be "back."
